Sunrise at 10,500 feet? Yes, please.
One thing I can say about our Mt. Hood climb is that the weather could not have been any better. We took a snocat to the top of the Palmer glacier around 11 p.m. And when we got off the cat, the air was completely still and not even that chilly. The Mazama climbers were stunned by how nice a night they had chosen for our summit attempt.

I came here on vacation from Dallas, Texas 33 years ago and never went home! I fell in love with the views of the Cascades and Central Oregon, but being able to see Mt. Hood from the Portland area has always been a very attractive sight for me and is most definitely an interesting asset to the state in my opinion. >>

Mt. Hood's snow-covered peak graces business logos and travel brochures. Its many natural resources are woven into nearly every thread of Oregon’s economy. Yet most Oregonians would be hard pressed to put a value on the mountain.
