Winter Weather Tangles Traffic
Oregon State Police say winter weather caused a number of crashes on Interstate 5 Sunday.
According to a news release, one took place near the summit of Highway 6 at about milepost 34. A second incident happened near Rice Hill.
The OSP said several minor crashes had taken place near Highway 6 on Saturday morning. Just before noon, a commercial truck stopped westbound because of another crash and then slid to the side into a guardrail. Shortly afterward, a passenger car also lost control and slid into the truck. Neither driver was injured.

Earlier in the morning, a weather related crash took place when a Toyota passed slower traffic and lost control. His car was struck from behind by a commercial truck. The car's driver was taken for treatment, but his injuries were not life-threatening, the OSP said.
He was cited by state police for the "Failure to Maintain a Lane of Travel."
State police also reported an accident involved an Oregon Department of Transportation Snow Plow at Highway 26 West of Manning. Two occupants of a Dodge were taken to the hospital with minor injuries in that incident just after 10 a.m. The ODOT employee was not injured.
In another incident near Azalea, a truck driver was injured when the driver hit a bridge and the truck turned over on its side. The truck driver was cited. The truck leaked a small amount of its 3,600 gallons of liquid concrete additive. No damage was found to the bridge. Freeway traffic was not affected.
Portland Mayor Sam Adams urged drivers to use caution this weekend at a news conference Saturday.
