Winds And Waves Capsize Fishing Boat In Columbia
Large waves and high winds are thought to be responsible for swamping a small fishing boat on the Columbia River this morning.
The 18-foot boat capsized with four people on board. Two drowned, one was rescued with minor hypothermia, and the fourth person is still missing.
The names of those involved are being withheld until family members are notified.
The group was fishing near Wishram, Washington. That's east of The Dalles.
Law enforcement officers from Klickitat County Sheriff's Office, the Yakima Nation and the Skamania County dive team, conducted the search.
A Coast Guard helicopter was also helping.
