Wildfire Smoldering Near Yakima Now Mostly Under Control
The 6200 acre wildfire near Yakima, Washington is mostly under control. Over three days, the fire burned down four outbuildings and one vacant home. It also damaged another house.
Tuesday firefighters are using GPS locators to get an exact calculation of the fire's reach.
Christy Boisselle, with the Yakima County Fire District 12, says they're also doing work by hand to restore the areas that were dug up with large equipment to form a fire line.
Christy Boisselle: "It's just getting rid of the deep ruts that are there, just trying to put things back in as good of condition as we found them as we can."
If there are no flare ups, Yakima fire officials say they expect the 250 firefighters to be headed home by Wednesday evening.
