For all the green lush places Oregonians live, for all the high desert landscapes relieved by a tree, who knows the precise value?  Now, Geoffrey Donovan does.

He's with the U.S. Forest Service, and splits his time between urban forests and wild places. This winter he was surveying Portland neighborhoods -- especially the ones sheltered by large, stately trees.
