Water Drenches Oregon's Farm Fields
When waters recede after this week's flooding, Oregon's farmers will be tallying their losses.
Many farms around the state have fields and crops under water and equipment that's been damaged.
Among those affected was the Gathering Together Farm which OPB recently featured in a story about winter farmers markets.
The farm's social media manager, Camille Storch, shared these pictures of the worse flooding they've seen in 25 years.
Storch explained it is very sad for the farm staff to see the fields deluged and equipment washed away.
But she says, flooding is a part of the ecosystem. (To hear her interview with April Baer, click the audio icon above).
Storch says the farm's team was very busy early this week harvesting as much of the winter greens crop as they could and getting equipment to higher ground.
But areas that used to be considered "higher ground" were not quite high enough later in the week.
Nearby another neighbor detailed the damage in a Youtube video.
