Washington Supreme Court Sides With State On School Funding
The Washington Supreme Court decided a major case Thursday regarding how the state doles out money to schools.
The high court unanimously turned aside a challenge to the school salary funding formula.
The Federal Way, Washington School District started the big money lawsuit.
District spokeswoman Diane Turner claims there's "no logical rationale" in the current formula for why some schools are treated more generously than others.
Diane Turner: "We are astonished as well as disappointed that the ruling affirms that the state can unequally fund education and does not violate the state constitution."
The Washington Supreme Court was more persuaded by the state Attorney General's reasoning.
His office argued that "school funding decisions should be made by elected legislators, not litigators."
