Votes Flowing In For Special Tax Measures Election
Ballots are flowing into drop boxes all over Oregon. April Baer talked with some voters in Tigard.
Measures 66 and 67 might not command the kind of turnout Oregon gets for a presidential election, but plenty of people are dropping off ballots on this election day.
Tigard resident and engineer Bob Tidrick voted yes on both 66 and 67. He said he made his decision after a close reading of how the measures would change tax structure.
Bob Tidrick “It’s not that much of a burden, I believe, for the higher income brackets. It’s not going to hurt anybody.”
At the same drop box was Lorainne Clauss. The stay-at–home mom said she nearly split her vote on the measures.
Lorainne Clauss: “I almost voted yes on one of them, the corporate tax measure, that was the one I almost changed my mind on. A lot of the TV commercials were heart-wrenching, but they didn’t sway me too much.”
In the end, Clauss’ concerns about state spending won out. She voted no on both 66 and 67.
Ballots must be in drop boxes by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
