UO Mascot In Trouble Over YouTube Video
The University of Oregon Duck mascot got in trouble for appearing in a YouTube video that's spread to internet sites all over the world. KLCC's Rachael McDonald reports.
UO seniors Jamie Slade, Brian McAndrew and Michael Bishop made the video called "I love my Ducks" in just four days.
They posted it on YouTube Monday. But University of Oregon officials asked them to take it off the site.
Athletic Department spokesman Dave Wiliford says the only problem with the video is that the Duck appears in it.
Dave Williford: "And that's not necessarily a University or Athletic Department decision or stand as much as it is that the Duck mascot is a copyright character of the Disney Corporation."
Wiliford says the Duck in the video is being replaced for the Arizona game.
The students took the video off YouTube, but Jamie Slade says it's already been posted to other internet sites -- even one in Australia and has gotten tens of thousands of hits.
Slade says he didn't expect the attention. He and his friends just love the Ducks.
