Two Sheriffs Deputies Shot; Latest In String Of NW Officer Shootings
Northwest police are once again reeling as two more officers are shot on duty.
The latest in a string of officer shootings happened Monday night near Eatonville in rural Pierce County. Two sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic dispute between two brothers.
Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the deputies were escorting David Edward Crable from the house when the shooting happened.
Ed Troyer : "He had his stuff under his arms with him and he was agreeing to go with him. And when he walked out and they were getting ready to leave he pulled a gun out and opened fire on them. And when he opened fire on them, he fired about ten different rounds striking both of our deputies, one of them multiple times."
The deputies fired back killing Crable whose teenage daughter was at the house.
Crable was known to police and had a history of domestic violence, weapons charges and restraining orders against him.
The two wounded officers are Sgt. Nick Hausner and Deputy Kent Mundell. Hausner is in serious condition. Mundell is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Both are husbands and fathers.
