Tuesday Is Registration Deadline For May Primary

Tuesday is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming May primary in Oregon. And it’s the deadline for changing the party you are registered with.

The state has rolled out online voter registration this year. The site is oregonvotes.org.

To register online you need a valid drivers license  or state ID with a signature on it.

Don Hamilton is a spokesman for Oregon’s Secretary of State. He says the new system is attracting all ages.

Don Hamilton: “Online registration has been proving pretty popular. We’ve had a lot of people registering online including two people who are over 100 years old."

Online registration is a good bet for procrastinators. You have till midnight tomorrow to submit a registration.

Paper applications need to be mailed with an April 27th postmark.  Or you can hand them in at a county election office during business hours through the end of the day.

About 2 million Oregonians are registered to vote.
