A third candidate has announced she’s in the race for Oregon Attorney General. Attorney Katherine Heekin says she's running in the interest of beefing up fraud prosecutions by the state.

Heekin worked for law firms in Medford and Portland before starting her own shop.

"I've run my own law firm for seven years. In that time I've had to work with a limited budget on complex cases." Heekin says most of her experience covers fraud cases, which she says prepared her for the civil court work the AG must oversee.

She's already raised $17,000 for her campaign fund.

Other declared candidates include former appeals court judge Ellen Rosenblum. She's raised $15,000 in donations.

Former federal prosecutor Dwight Holton also in the race Wednesday. State records show no balance for his committee yet.

All three declared candidates are Democrats.
