State Seeks To Get H1N1 Vaccine To Those Most In Need
Because of the slow flow of H1N1 vaccine into Oregon, the state health department is changing the priority list of who should get it first. Kristian Foden-Vencil reports.
State epidemiologist, Dr. Mel Kohn, says rather than give healthy children and young adults the vaccine, it needs to be given to people who have underlying health problems -- like asthma.
Mel Kohn: "H1N1 has been circulating here now long enough that we're getting a clearer picture of who's being affected. And we want to make sure that all of the work that we're doing really reflects what's happening here in the state."
