Snow Surveys Important For Determining Summer Water Supplies
|
Jon Lea has been doing snow surveys in Oregon for twenty years.
He works for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, a federal agency under the Department of Agriculture.
The purpose of the surveys is to predict how much water will be available for things like agriculture, rivers, and hydroelectric power in the summer.
Pete Springer went on a snow survey last week on Mt. Hood and produced this audio postcard.
