Snake River Prison Inmate's Death Was Homicide
A Snake River Correctional Institution inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell last week was killed by someone else, according to the State Medical Examiner.
Lieutenant Greg Hastings of the Oregon State Police says his agency has a suspect.
"We have an ongoing criminal investigation, we have other interviews that we're going to be doing. So at this point in time, we're not going to be releasing the name of the suspect, but it's believed that the suspect was a cell mate of the inmate who died," Hastings said.
Michael Clarence Hagen was 28. He had been convicted of robbery, burglary, assault and attempted aggravated murder.
His earliest release date was in 15 years.
