Skis, Sleds And Four-Wheelers In Olympia's Snow
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Many people are staying home Wednesday in Olympia because of the snow. The winter storm Tuesday night dumped more than a foot of snow, which almost breaks the record for Washington's capital.
Many cars are stuck so people are getting creative about how to move around in the snow-covered city.
"My name is Gayle Wilde and what I'm up to is getting my cross-country skis on for the first time in about five years, and headed out to cruise around the neighborhood and see what's going on. I just haven't gotten up to the mountains and so it's so much easier when the snow comes to you, you just run out your back door."
Besides skiing, some people in Olympia are racing around in four-wheelers, but sledding seems to be the most popular activity outside.
The snow is expected to stick around for the day as western Washington prepares for another freezing night.
