Sheriff Plans To Turn Horman Case Over To Task Force

Police are scaling back efforts to find out what happened to Kyron Horman.

In a press conference broadcast live by KGW-TV, Multnomah County Sheriff, Dan Staton, said he’s assigning the case to a task force of detectives to free up other officers working on the case.

Dan Staton: "The commitment we have had to the community has suffered because of what has been dedicated and how we've worked this investigation fluidly. And it's reached the point now where I've got to release these investigators back to their normal tasks. We've got to pick up business and what is expected of us by the community."

Multnomah County DA, Michael Schrunk, says he fully expects to prosecute the case but is prepared for the long-haul.

Meanwhile, Kyron's parents, are scheduled to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show Thursday.

Kyron disappeared from Skyline Elementary in northwest Portland on June 4, sparking the largest search in state history.

No suspects have been named the case, but Kyron’s stepmother is a focus of the investigation.
