Seymour HershHersh discusses how he gets people to talk to him with OPB's Geoff Norcross.

In the war on terrorism, intelligence counts as much as firepower.  But how do you get that intelligence?

And when does harsh interrogation of suspects spill over into torture, something our government adamantly says we do not do.

Seymour Hersh is considering this question as part of his reporting.  He’s a staff writer for the New Yorker.

He wrote about the abuse of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq in 2004.  He’s also written extensively about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and about our relationship with other countries in the Middle East.

I spoke with Seymour Hersh earlier this week, and asked him how the definition of torture has changed as we fight the war.

Seymour Hersh is a Pulitizer Prize-winning investigative journalist, and a staff writer for the New Yorker.  He’ll speak about the question of torture Friday evening at the White Stag Block in Portland.
