Roseburg Soldier Killed In Agfhanistan
A 24-year old soldier with family in Southern Oregon has been killed in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department has confirmed that three members of the Army’s 4th infantry division died in an explosion Sunday.
Family members have identified one of the fallen as Josh Lengstorf, who grew up near Roseburg.
The soldier’s uncle, Wally Lengstorf, calls his nephew a classic American small town kid, who grew up playing football and hunting.
He says Lengstorf survived another roadside bomb last fall, but not without injury. The family got to see Lengstorf while he was home recovering.
Wally Lengstorf “He took a pretty good knock, he was actually TBI, traumatic brain injury, a concussion to you and me. He was repeating himself periodically, kind of losing his memory a little bit.”
Lengstorf attended Elkton High School, graduating in 2004. He’s survived by his wife, who lives near Roseburg, close to her family.
Print reports say the couple has a small daughter.
