Rinde Eckert Discussing Opening Of Time Based Art Festival
Portland, OR September 6, 2007 2:30 p.m.
Renowned artist Rinde Eckert kicks off the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art’s TBA festival Thursday night. TBA stand for Time Based Art— and it runs for 11 days. You could just call it “performance art” that wouldn’t quite get it.
The 5-year-old festival includes theatre, films and lectures, salons, concerts and all kinds of displays -- including a piece that’s Hair cuts by children, which is children cutting hair.
Compared with some of the other works, Rinde Eckert’s choral piece is on the traditional side. He uses 100 in his latest composition: On the Great Migration of Excellent Birds.
He stopped by our Portland studios with 4 of the 100 singers to talk about this piece.
