Monday the group, World Citizens for Peace is planning a ceremony in Richland, Washington to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. The Hanford Nuclear Reservation in southeast Washington is where the plutonium for that bomb was processed.
Monday a group of people will remember those who died during WWII in Nagasaki, Japan. They will also honor the Americans who perished while serving in the war.
At a downtown Richland park, a memorial ceremony will feature the ringing of the Bell of Peace.
The bell is a model of a church bell recovered from the destruction in Nagasaki. The model was a gift to the city of Richland from the mayor of Nagasaki in the mid 80s.
