Remains Of Missing Mt. Hood Climber Believed Found

The Clackamas County Sheriff's office says it believes the remains of a Longview, Washington man have been found on Mt. Hood.

Anthony Vietti

Lieutenant Shane Strangfield is a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Shane Strangfield: "We suspect that the remains found are to be those of Anthony Vietti, who has been missing since December 11th 2009, but we have not recovered him or positively identified those remains yet."

Strangfeld wouldn't say where the remains were found.

Vietti's climbing partner Katie Nolan of Portland also went missing on December 11th.

Search and rescue teams did not find Nolan or Vietti. But they did recover the body of the third member of the party from the Reid Glacier.

The Sheriff's office said at the time that Luke Gullberg appeared to have climbed down the mountain seeking help for his friends.
