A red flag warning for wildfire risk has been posted for Central and Southern Oregon.

Lisa Clark is the fire information officer for Central Oregon dispatch. She says about 2,000 lightning strikes have hit Central Oregon today. From those, there were thirty new wildfires.

Lisa Clark: "We've been able to initial attack these fires very quickly. And there have been no needs for evacuation. We'll just continue to monitor as the lightning passes through and see if we get any more starts out of those."

There were two one-acre fires outside Bend, but crews contained the fires before they spread.

Lightning storms are expected through Wednesday.
