Q&A: When Floating Fish Carcasses Are A Good Thing
If you plan to boat or swim on the North Santiam River next week, you might encounter something unusual: lots of floating fish carcasses.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is planning to dump hundreds of salmon carcasses in the North Santiam on scheduled spawning days, beginning next Tuesday.
Karen Hans is a biologist with Oregon's Salmon-Trout Enhancement Program, run the by Department of Fish and Wildlife. She says the carcasses are good for the river.
