Q&A: Goat Farmer Adopts 'Herd-Sharing' Arrangement
As any dairy farmer in Oregon could tell you, getting a Grade A Creamery License from the state is a long, expensive undertaking. It’s especially hard on small operations.
The Siskiyou Crest Goat Dairy sits on only 64 acres in Jacksonville, in southwest Oregon.
The farm got its license in 2007, but recently announced it’s giving that license up so it can more effectively sell raw milk.
Michael Moss (he goes by “Mookie”) is the co-owner of the Siskiyou Crest Goat Dairy, and he’s on the line.
