Potter Sends 'Just Out' Letter Critical Of Adams
Former Portland Mayor Tom Potter has written a letter slamming his successor, Sam Adams, for ethical lapses. April Baer reports.
Potter sent his letter to Just Out, Portland's gay and lesbian community newspaper, saying he wanted to make clear his concerns about Adams' leadership.
The current mayor's been targeted with a recall campaign after attempting to conceal a 2005 relationship with a young man who was underage when they met.
Potter has an openly-lesbian daughter, and supported gay rights as mayor.
He says in the letter that Adams' sexual orientation is not an issue. But Potter comes down on Adams for lying to the public during his mayoral campaign about the nature of his friendship with Beau Breedlove.
In his letter, Potter promises to respect the views and actions of gay Portlanders, even if they don't join him in supporting the recall effort against Adams.
Adams is out of the country, in Taiwan.
