Portland Shuts Off Flow Of Water From Bull Run
The City of Portland is shutting off the flow of water from its Bull Run watershed, and turning on the water supply from the Columbia South Shore wells.
Heavy rain in the area has increased the amount of sediment in Bull Run water, and that water is not filtered before it reaches residents.
So, over the next few days, Portland water users will begin receiving groundwater stored in wells instead. Water Bureau officials say it will take up to 60 hours for the system to switch over completely.
The bureau will use well water as long as weather conditions and water quality dictate.
