Portland Public Schools Shuffle NE School Populations
The Portland Public school board agreed Monday night to change school boundaries, grade levels, and transfer policies, at schools in the Northeast part of the district.
The changes are intended to help balance enrollment among schools that are either too empty or too crowded, in the wake of years-old school consolidations.
Boundary changes will affect Beaumont Middle School and Alameda, Irvington and Sabin Elementary schools.
PPS also approved shifting some 7th and 8th graders from Vernon to Beaumont Middle School. The Rigler K-8 school is reverting to its previous structure as an elementary school.
The board restricted transfers out of Sabin -- and from Skyline Elementary on the west side of the Willamette River.
