Portland Market Loses 23,000 Private-Sector Jobs
The Portland market has lost 23,000 private sector jobs over the past year -- according to a new report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Of all the cities in the Pacific Northwest Portland fared the worst. Across 100 labor markets in the nation Portland ranked 17th.
The job losses are ranked by percentage of the workforce.
Every city lost jobs over the last year -- except for Charleston, Honolulu and New Haven.
Portland lost 2.8 percent of its workforce. Boise lost 2.5 percent. And Seattle lost 2.1 percent.
Las Vegas registered the sharpest year-to-year decline, losing 34,000 jobs.
