Police Review Panel Completes Probe Of Aaron Campbell Shooting
A police review panel has finished its investigation into the shooting death of Aaron Campbell during a standoff with Portland police last January.
Campbell was unarmed.
The panel was considering whether the officers involved in the incident broke any police rules or used inappropriate force.
Police Spokeswoman Kelli Sheffer confirmed today that Ronald Frashouer, the officer who shot Campbell, has been placed on paid administrative leave. She would not say why.
Sheffer says Police Chief Mike Reese is considering the review panel's recommendations and will meet with the Mayor before he makes a final decision.
Frashhour said he thought Campbell was reaching toward his waistband for a weapon.
A grand jury cleared the officer of criminal wrongdoing. It was critical of police department procedure during the standoff.
