Non-profits are feeling the recession and the credit crunch, and that includes hospitals.

In Pendleton, the city’s St. Anthony Hospital will be facing the economic turbulence without its previous captain.

Hospital CEO Ted Fox resigned suddenly this week, surprising colleagues.

Larry Blanc is the hospital spokesman.Larry Blanc: "We currently do have an interim CEO and his name is Randy Mee and this search through Catholic  Health Initiatives usually takes three or four months."

Fox had only been at the Pendleton hospital for eight months. He previously had served as C-E-O at a hospital in Gilroy, California. He resigned from that job suddenly as well. Associates there say he was pressured to resign because of financial difficulties. The situation at St. Anthony was not any easier – hospitals across the country are dealing with lost revenue and an inability to borrow money.
