Oregon Voices: Job Seekers On Federal Unemployment Benefits
President Obama signed a bill that extends federal unemployment benefits to people who've been out of work for a long time late yesterday.
The state of Oregon provides support to people during their first six months of unemployment. The federal extension could add as much as another year of support.
Oregon is getting about $350 million total and the state estimates that will help about 100,000 unemployed people.
Reporter Amelia Templeton visited an employment center, and talked to three people looking for work about the extension.
Rigoberto Santos' unemployment benefits ran out three weeks ago. He should get extended federal unemployment benefits as a result of the bill President Obama signed yesterday.
She also spoke to Susan Pershern and Aaron Varela.
