Oregon's unemployment rate remained essentially unchanged last month. New figures released Tuesday by state economists show a rate of 10.6 percent in March, up just a hair from February. The manufacturing sector picked up about 1,100 jobs, but overall Oregon lost about 400 jobs during March. David Cooke is an economist with the Oregon Employment Department. He said Oregon's unemployment rate has held virtually steady for the past five months.“This parallels the national trend where the national unemployment rate has been 9.7 percent for the first three months of this year," he said.Washington's unemployment rate also held mostly flat during March.
