Oregon Political Review: If It Pleases The Court

Courtroom strategy was front and center on the Oregon political landscape this week. Last week, Washington's Republican Attorney General said he would join the lawsuit against the Congressional health care overhaul.  Now, his Oregon counterpart, Democrat John Kroger, said he was not going to join. In fact, he may sign a brief in support of the new law.

Meanwhile, Kroger WILL support Washington in an upcoming Supreme Court case.  Olympia is defending to keep citizen petitions as public records. Oregon is joining 17 other states in filing a friend of the court brief supporting Washington. Finally, three candidates for Oregon Governor, Democrats John Kitzhaber and Bill Bradbury, and Republican Allen Alley, participated in a debate on Tuesday that focused on environmental issues.
