Oregon Drawing 10,000 Names For Health Plan
The state will be drawing the names of about 10,000 people Monday who can then apply to join the Oregon Health Plan. As Kristian Foden-Vencil reports, if you're low-income and you aren't on the reservation list yet, there's still time.
Under legislation passed last year, the state has funding to add about 35-thousand adults to the Oregon Health Plan.
Health Department spokeswoman, Judy Mohr-Peterson, says demand is high and each month, the state has been picking a few thousand more people off the reservation list.
Judy Mohr-Peterson: "There's been some great stories coming in with people able to get on the Oregon Health Plan who've been without insurance, either for a year, or several years who've lost it. So that's been going great."
If you're not on the reservation list Monday, the next drawing is scheduled for Friday, May 21st. People can apply by going to ohplist.oregon.gov
The plan covers doctor visits, prescriptions, mental health and addiction services.
Under the state's Healthy Kids program, all Oregon children are eligible for coverage -- regardless of their parents income.
