November Storm Hits Coast Hard
High winds and heavy rain across western Oregon and the coastline Monday night caused flooding, scattered power outages and wind damage. Ryan Knutson reports.
The most severe storm damage reported was in Tillamook and Seaside.
Some coastal communities saw winds reach in the 90 mile per hour range. It tore branches off trees, and downed several.
In the Portland area, winds blew around 40 miles per hour.
Tiffani Brown is a meterologist for the National Weather Service. She says power outages occurred briefly in several counties, and forced the Cannon Beach Elementary School to close.
Tiffani Brown: "On the coast, Seaside, had power outages last night. In the valley, Forest Grove and Oregon City had power outages. And there were quite a few homes reported in Clackamas County that had power outages."
Flooding along the Grays River forced two roads to close in Wahkiakum County in Southwest Washington. The Willapa River also flooded, but the National Weather Service knows of no reports of damage.
Another similar storm is expected to hit Oregon late Wednesday night.
