No On 50 Campaign Aims To Snuff Out Tobacco Taxes
Portland, OR October 23, 2007 3 a.m.
About 230,000 kids from low-income families get their health insurance from the state of Oregon.
This fall, Healthy Kids Oregon-Yes on 50 aims to extend that coverage to another 117,000 children, by raising tobacco taxes about 84-cents per pack.
The opposition is not buying it. Oregonians Against the Blank Check is breaking all state spending records this fall, trying to convince voters to reject this.
J.L.Wilson, head of the campaign, sat down with OPB's April Baer to make the case.
Here's a longer version of their conversation.
