Nike Sales Growth Surpasses Expectations
Nike, surpassed the expectations of financial analysts Wednesday. The shoe giant posted a seven percent increase in sales.
In another sign the nation is pulling out of recession, Nike's third quarter numbers were very healthy.
The company reported sales of $4.7 billion dollars, which compares to $4.4 billion for the same time last year.
On a conference call, CEO Mark Parker, said Nike has returned to 'constant growth.'
"You know Nike is more than a survivor in these tough economic times. We're able to manage up and through the recession to expand separations for our brands and our businesses," Parker said.
The company saw it strongest growth in “emerging markets.” That category includes countries like Brazil, India and New Zealand.
In after market trading, Nike's shares increased about 3.5 percent -- surpassing the company's previous 52-week high.
