More Storms Knock Power To Thousands
Another strong storm hit Oregon over the weekend, leaving thousands without power. Ryan Knutson reports.
Strong winds dropped trees and branches around Oregon late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
Many fell on power lines, causing roughly 20,000 people to lose power in the Portland-metro area, according to the National Weather Service. Similar numbers were reported along the coast.
There were also reports of roof damage in Seaside and Rockaway Beach.
This storm brought less precipitation than the one last week. But Jonathan Wolfe of the National Weather Service in Portland says it did drop about 3 feet of new snow on Mt. Hood.
Jonathan Wolfe: "Timberline has 91 inches on the ground already, which is extremely high for this time of year. A lot of the other places are up to 50 – 65 inches or so, which is quite a bit of snow for late November."
Wolfe says no major storms are on the horizon, and Thanksgiving in Oregon should be mostly dry with a chance of afternoon showers.
