Mercy Corps Workers Prepare To Travel To Haiti
In Haiti Wednesday a desperate effort is underway to find survivors after a magnitude 7 earthquake struck the Caribbean nation late Tuesday afternoon.
Cassandra Nelson leaves Thursday with two other aid workers from the Portland-based Mercy Corp. It’s an international relief agency.
She says the poverty in Haiti will make their task difficult.
Nelson and her crew will fly to the Dominican Republic and travel by land to Haiti. Thousands are feared dead, and Nelson says she’s expecting to find the worst.
