Mayor Adams Behind In His House Payments
A house belonging to Portland Mayor Sam Adams has turned up on a list of properties in foreclosure. April Baer reports.
The listing, first reported by the Portland Mercury, shows that Adams is about $5000 behind on mortgage payments for his residence in the north Portland neighborhood of Kenton.
Adams says it's a private matter, and that he's catching up on the payments. Adams' spokesman did not provide further information on whether those payments have been made in full yet.
A separate report by another weekly paper, the Willamette Week, shows Adams owns two other properties in the same neighborhood. But there's no indication in county records that payments have been lagging on those mortgages.
Adams has needed money lately, as he's still defending himself against allegations of an inappropriate relationship several years ago.
Beau Breedlove was underage when Adams met him. Adams maintains the relationship was not sexual until after Breedlove reached the age of consent.
Adams lied about the relationship to voters in his quest for the mayor's office.
