Marysville PTA Raises $20,000
The Marysville PTA raised more than $20,000 at a fundraiser Thursday for the Rose City Park Elementary School. Ryan Knutson reports.
Just days after the Marysville Elementary School was all but destroyed in a fire last November, local businessman Roger Devine volunteered to help organize a fundraising auction.
After weeks of planning, Devine helped bring together a band, other local companies and the PTAs from several schools to donate auction items, such as Blazer tickets. The event brought in more than $20,000.
Jessica Lantz, president of the Marysville PTA, says the funds raised in one night amount to more than the PTA normally raises in an entire year.
Jessica Lantz: “We’re very grateful for the support from all over Portland, and even the outreaching areas, it’s just been amazing. Thank you.”
The money will be used to replace school supplies, fund volunteer services and sports programs.
