Kulongoski Nears End Of Bill Signing Career
Governor Ted Kulongoski said Monday that he might veto three bills. They include a controversial measure that would allow psychologists to prescribe certain medications.
Here's a sound you don't hear much in Salem these days.
That's the sound of cameras clicking away as Washington Governor Chris Gregoire signs a bill into law recently in Olympia.
Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski hasn't held any public signing ceremonies for any of the hundred-plus bills he's signed into law following the February special session.
Ironically, just before the session, the governor moved back into his ceremonial office which was damaged by a fire in 2008.
Kulongoski has signed most of what the legislature sent his way last month. The latest round includes a measure banning most employers from checking the credit history of job applicants.
Aside from the three bills for which he's issued a possible veto notice, the Governor also hasn't acted on a bill that would allow public school teachers to wear religious clothing in the classroom.
