It's Not Bright, But Some See Light At The End Of Dark Economic Tunnel
A new poll commissioned by OPB and Fox-12 finds a little improvement in how Oregonians view the economy.
The poll found fifty percent of respondents believe they’re in a worse financial situation than they were 18 months ago. But that’s a smaller percentage than answered that way last October.
That was the last time Davis, Hibbitts & Midghall polled that question for OPB and Fox-12.
John Horvick administered the poll. He says there aren’t more people saying they’re better off. They’re more saying they “don’t know.”
John Horvick: “I think that anxiety is just holding them back. Perhaps their situation is better, but holding them back from being confident about how they answer that question.”
Close to two-thirds of respondents said they were at least somewhat worried about their own financial condition.
More than half of respondents anticipate that in six months their financial situation will be no better or worse than it is right now.
The OPB-Fox 12 poll reached 500 Oregon residents last week. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
