Humane Society Would Be Thankful If You'd Adopt A Cat This Thanksgiving
Portland, OR November 15, 2007 1:06 p.m.
The cattery at the Oregon Humane Society is at full capacity. OHS is asking the public to adopt 100 cats by Thanksgiving to ease the overcrowding.
David Lytle spokesman for the Humane Society can't explain the increase in cat births.
David Lytle: "Our adoption rate is actually up in October, almost 20 percent. We keep getting more and more cats in as an unexpectedly high number coming in the door. And part of that maybe goes back to the summer where there was just a large kitten boom. The overpopulation of cats is a big issue."
The OHS will be having a special. Adopt one cat and receive another for free. All animals that go through the Humane Society are spayed and neutered.
