How Oregon And Chile Compare On Earthquake Preparedness
The recent earthquakes around the world have engineers considering their own hometowns, and how they would hold up in an earthquake.
After Chile was hit by an 8.8 magnitude earthquake in February, Kent Yu paid a visit to look at that country’s buildings.
Doctor Yu is a structural engineer with Degenkolb Engineers in Portland, and he spent six days in Chile last month. He says he was struck by the similarities between Chile and Oregon.
