Oregon health authorities say the first doses of H1N1 vaccine should be in the state by Monday. Kristian Foden-Vencil reports.

State public health director, Dr. Mel Kohn, says the first doses should go to children, pregnant women, health care workers and people who have medical conditions which put them at a high risk for flu.

Mel Kohn: “We do expect that we will have enough vaccine for everybody who wants to, to get vaccinated through the course of the season here. Of course that vaccine isn’t going to arrive first thing Monday morning, it’ll take a little bit of time to ramp things up. But we are starting very actively next week.”

The first doses will come in the form of a nasal mist. Injectable vaccine will arrive later in the flu season.  

Kohn expects people will continue getting inoculated through April. More information can be found at flu.oregon.gov .
