Bad news in the economy means good news for military recruiters. 

During the last fiscal year, all active duty and and reserve forces met or exceeded their recruitment goals for the first time since 2004. 

For a survey of military recruitment in this economic environment, we turn to Dr. Beth Asch.  She's an economist with the Rand Corporation, and she joins us on the phone.
