Dudley Fails To Win Oregon Right To Life Endorsement
Oregon's Democratic candidate for governor won the endorsement of the state's largest abortion rights groups Monday. But the Republican candidate for governor is not getting the same backing from groups at the other end of the political spectrum.
Democrat John Kitzhaber got the nod from both Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon. The groups have consistently supported Democrats.
Republicans have generally sought the endorsement of Oregon Right to Life. That group gave the thumbs up to another candidate in the GOP gubernatorial primary, John Lim.
But its director Gayle Atteberry says the winner of that primary, Republican nominee Chris Dudley, won't be getting the Right to Life endorsement in the general election.
Gayle Atteberry: "Chris Dudley proudly calls himself pro-choice. And he will not be working with us and we will not be working with him."
Atteberry says her group will focus instead on what it considers key legislative and Congressional races.
