Universities began getting official word Wednesday from high school and junior college football players about where they're headed.

The University of Oregon Ducks are feeling pretty good about the 21 players they've attracted. More than half the recruits hail from California or Texas.

U of O landed three defensive players from Oregon high schools: Brett Bafaro from Hillsboro's Liberty High, Alex Balducci from Central Catholic in Portland, and Oshay Dunmore from Newport.

The Ducks landed two big linemen – including the son of NFL Hall of Famer, Howie Long. Head football coach Chip Kelly was excited to tell reporters about Kyle Long.

"Kyle Long, just a tremendous prospect that will have an opportunity to come in and play right away. He's all of 6-7, and I'm real excited to get Kyle up here this summer, and getting him going," Kelly said. 

Kelly recently considered taking a job coaching in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He says making that decision is similar to what recruits go through in choosing the right university to attend. 

University of Oregon is under investigation by the NCAA for possible recruiting violations in previous off-seasons, under Chip Kelly.
